Yes, the protests should be peaceful, but how do you convince the punks who show up and throw rocks and cause trouble that is what they need to do? It won't happen. I've lived in Portland for 25 years, and we've had that problem at least that long. During the BLM protests Fox convinced people that our city was being burned to the ground by an Antifa army. Republicans, including Trump still talk about it. The protests were peaceful, but we had a small group of assholes who could care less about the cause but loved starting fires and breaking windows, and all of the publicity they got.

Trump sent in his goon squad from an unnamed agency without identification and dragged innocent people into unmarked vans. It was a test run for what is happening today in California.

Know that after Kent State the majority of Americans supported the military and thought the students were wrong. It took a while for the truth to prevail.

We have a problem in that this administration is controlling the narrative, and that is what Americans will believe because now all of the legacy media is on board. A protest is not a riot. We need to speak up, and tell the truth on what is happening, and show up in the streets for the peaceful protests. Indivisible, and all of the organizing groups have been very effective with that.

Robert, I hope that you and Jill will still plan to do something fun on Monday to celebrate her birthday! Thank you for the countless hours you have put into your newsletters and into this community that you have created. I especially enjoy your "Daily Dose of Perspective" as it acts as a palate cleanser after we digest the highlights of the day's news.
